It's an employment setting where all employees follow a program of policies and activities designed to provide a safe workplace, discourage alcohol and drug abuse, and encourage treatment, recovery, and return to work for employees facing those challenges. The program's intent is to educate adults on issues relating to substance abuse. The workplace is the one place where adult education can be mandated—which empowers the individual and the family, resulting in stronger communities.

No. Testing all employees is not required—but pre-employment, reasonable-suspicion, and post-accident testing are.

No. You have the right to terminate or take disciplinary action, which should include an agreement by the employee to undergo substance abuse treatment.

No. You may divide your workforce into groups. The Drugs Don't Work program is designed to be as user-friendly as possible—lectures, articles, and videos are all ways to accomplish the required training hours.

The premium discount is applied pro rata as of the date of certification—the date of approval by the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation.

The insured employer won't receive payment for the credit until after the annual final premium audit under the policy.

The insured employer is entitled to the 7.5% premium credit for up to eight years from the date of original certification. After that, the premium discount is determined by the insured's experience rating plan—or, for an employer not rated on experience, by the Commissioner of Insurance based on data received from insurers.
