Available Positions

Public Assistance Site Inspector
o Locations: Albany, Atlanta, Brunswick, Savannah, and Warner Robins
o Description: Site Inspectors validate disaster damage and collect specific and detailed information on damaged public facilities under the direction of a Site Inspector Crew Lead. Duties include visiting damaged sites and documenting the damage through photographs and measurements, as well as the creation of sketches and drawings as necessary. The Site Inspector uses the Site Inspection Report (SIR) to collect data to create the Damage Description and Dimensions (DDD) of the Public Assistance grant. Will also takes notes of any elements of damage or conversations with the Applicant.

Public Assistance Administrative Assistant
o Locations: Albany, Atlanta, Brunswick, Savannah, and Warner Robins
o Description: This position has a wide range of clerical administrative duties to support office and personnel staff. PA Admins will perform other Public Assistance duties such as answer phones, take messages, send e-mail, compose, and send written communication for business purposes that is well organized and appropriate for the intended audience. Plan and schedule meetings, appointments and maintain contact lists. Coordinate and maintain records, research, collect and compile information, and verify the accuracy of data. Prepare and coordinate a variety of materials for briefings and presentations, create letters and memos.

Media Relations Specialist
o Locations: Warner Robins
o Description: Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with local news media, establishing honest and open lines of communication to relay breaking news and critical information to disaster survivors. Conducts interviews and records public service announcements (PSAs) using approved talking points. Will analyze information and create timely and organized reports to identify and summarize developing news issues. Maintain awareness of current and approved fact sheets, media deadlines, and accurate media lists. Monitors and refers inquiries about federal, state, and voluntary agency programs to the Joint Field Office (JFO) News Desk as needed. Will compile relevant stories, prepare summaries, identify trends, and brief the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) managers and Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) staff about interaction with the media.

Congressional Affairs Specialist
o Locations: Warner Robins
o Description: The incumbent will track activities and outreach to members of Congress involving recess, speaking engagements, town hall meetings, special events, and media coverage. Plan, prepare for/and coordinate regularly-scheduled conference calls with the Georgia congressional delegation/staff involving state and FEMA leadership in Georgia to provide updates on federal recovery operations. Support effective communication strategies and information flow. Plan, coordinate, and manage outreach and office visits. Monitor Member web sites for relevant information. Perform casework to include prioritizing requests, establishing response deadlines, researching cases, developing casework responses, and inputting information into the tracking system.


Historic Preservations Specialist (posted as: Historic Site Administrator)

o Locations: Albany, Atlanta, Brunswick, and Warner Robins
o Description: The Historic Preservation Specialist will be responsible for conducting Historic Preservation compliance reviews. Understanding of NEPA and NHPA is a plus. Responsible for conducting Historic Preservation compliance reviews with minimal supervision. Provides technical assistance to program staff and other personnel recommends and implements streamlining measures for EHP compliance activities, in coordination with appropriate regional staff and Federal, Tribal and State EHP resource agencies, as required. Deliver concise environmental and historic preservation information to applicants and program staff. Conduct environmental reviews and prepare required documentation, and submit recommendations to the appropriate team leader for approval.

Environmental Specialist (posted as: Environmental Consultant)
o Locations: Albany, Atlanta, Brunswick, and Warner Robins
o Description: The incumbent in this position will be responsible for conducting Environmental and Historic Preservation compliance reviews. Understanding of NEPA and NHPA is a plus. Knowledge of Environmental Laws and Executive Orders and Historic Preservation Laws is a plus.
o Preparation and/or review of studies, written reports, charts, graphs, maps, and other documentation that describes the technical methods and results of surveys of properties identified for environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, survey reports, and design memorandum. Preparation of documentation may concern items of archaeological, geological, and historical significance in relation to other environmental factors that are considered in selecting and recommending the most desirable plan of development.

Travel Coordinator

o Locations: Brunswick
o Description: As a Travel Specialist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), your duties will include, but will not be limited to: assist Travelers with travel expenses in FEMA travel system: CONCURGOV, perform quality assurance review for Travel Authorizations and Vouchers, assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports, assist travelers over the phone, provide general support to travelers, recognize/identify potential travel issues or problems and communicate them to the Travel Manager, maintain travel department’s appointment schedule, answer questions from travelers about policy and procedures, maintain contact with travel personnel at other support sites to provide shared Disaster Recovery (DR) information, maintain contact with FEMA Finance Center on all disaster specific travel information.

Human Resources Assistant

o Locations: Brunswick and Warner Robins
o Description: Provides clerical support to the Human Resources Unit. The Human Resources Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: Tracking, reporting, and accountability of employees, Time & Attendance, and all other HR functions. Update disaster employee assignment information in the Agency Deployment Tracking System as required. Collect, review, verify and file the approved Overtime Work Justification, Authorization and Certifications at the beginning of each pay period. Compare and reconcile Time and Attendance (T&A) information with the deployment staffing report, ensuring that the time has been validated and certified for every assigned disaster employee. Check the time records for accuracy and troubleshoot various pay issues.

Voluntary Agency Liaison Specialist

o Locations: Brunswick and Savannah
o Description: Will provide administrative, logistical and research support for projects and reports assigned by the Volunteer Agency Liaison group leader. Will describe and clarify federal disaster programs and eligibility requirements to Long Term Recovery Centers based upon established procedures. Will serve as the key point of contact for voluntary agencies for information on government response and recovery activities and act as the point of contact for government on the activities of the VOLAGs. Will maintain disaster-specific files, maintain rosters and contacts for voluntary agencies and will assist with dissemination of information. Responsible for assembly of long term recovery committees, nongovernmental, social service organizations and other service providers to assist in recovery. Will provide information to Agency committees about disaster programs and answer questions regarding individual cases, with written consent.
