MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Back in March if you had asked me, I would have told you that this year’s political season couldn’t end soon enough. Now, eight weeks later we are approaching the start of early voting here in Georgia; and I’m beginning to wonder how many will educate themselves on the candidates and exercise their right (and responsibility) to vote. I had the opportunity to talk to Secretary of State Raffensperger a few weeks ago about this upcoming election. WATCH

Historically, your chamber has been active in the candidate forum space providing our members and the community access to the candidates, and this year is absolutely no exception. Just like you, as business leaders, have tough decisions to make about the future outlook of your business, our elected leaders at every level have to make decisions that impact thousands, or for our state and federal races, millions of citizens. That is why it is critically important that we elect candidates who have the leadership skills and personal experience necessary to make the hard decisions to keep Georgia the best place to live, work, play, pray, and do business.

Early voting begins on May 18 at the Board of Elections Office in Perry. Additional satellite locations at the Houston Health Pavilion and CGTC’s Sonny Watson Health Sciences Building will open for early voting on May 26. For a full schedule of early voting option click here.

On Monday, we will live stream candidate forums for contested primary races for Houston County District Attorney, State Representative District 147, and State Senate District 20. It’s not too late to submit your questions for consideration. Frank Malloy will join me to moderate our forum and you can find us LIVE on Facebook, YouTube, and 13WMAZ.com. Please make sure to tell your friends, employees, and co-workers, and tune in.
