MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

We have been blown away by the success and excitement surrounding our “Keep the Cheer Here” campaign. Our participating merchants are pulling out all of the stops to save you money while improving their ability to serve our community well into the future. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that today is Amazon Prime Day. And I think most of us would be hard-pressed to say that we won’t buy anything from Amazon. I’m not even suggesting that. They have an incredible business model and employ hundreds of residents in our community with their distribution center up the road.

My challenge is this: for the things you can get right here in our community, make it a priority to think local first. Two-day free shipping is great. What’s even better is the personalized service you’ll get by checking with your favorite local retailers to see what they have in stock and picking it up on the way home tonight. Just from the outpouring of support for this current campaign, Abreanne’s sold 98 pairs of leggings during their deal of the day promotion – NINETY-EIGHT, y’all! That’s amazing.

Here in Houston County we have a distinctive sense of community which is due in part to our unique restaurants, retail shops and service providers in Warner Robins, Centerville, Perry and every corner of Houston County. You may not realize the impact of your purchasing power, but shopping local has a tremendous impact on our business community. In addition to providing jobs and stimulating our local economy, when you shop at one local merchant, you’re supporting a whole host of other business. Banks, restaurants and other businesses cluster around our local shops.
Local businesses are one of the largest contributors to local schools, non-profit groups and charities. Step up to help our businesses support what’s important to you by thinking local first, so they can continue to give back to our community. Shopping small can make a big impact so do your part by thinking local first, and let’s keep the cheer here today and everyday.
