read for the record

Read for the Record is on Thursday, November 7. They’re celebrating their 14th anniversary of Read for the Record, with the book Thank You, Omu by Oge Mora! This fun event focuses on bringing communities into schools to raise awareness about the critical importance of early literacy.
For this year’s event, United Way of Central Georgia has teamed up with 26 elementary schools in five Central Georgia counties: Bibb, Houston, Monroe, Crawford, and Jones. We are recruiting around 400 volunteers to read to Pre K – 3rd grade students. Parkwood, Quail Run, and Centerville Elementary Schools are in need of some volunteers. Parkwood has 14 slots at 9 am, Quail Run has 2 spots open at 9:00 am and 2 spots at 10:00 am and Centerville is in need of 13 volunteers at 8:45 am. Volunteers will read for around 1 hour.
