In honor of Small Business Week, the Internal Revenue Service reminded small business owners and self-employed people that they can avoid a surprise tax bill and possibly a penalty by making estimated tax payments during the year. By law, everyone must pay tax as they earn income. Estimated tax is the method used to pay tax on income that is not subject to withholding.
