Last week, our Chamber Board signed and sent a letter to Georgia State House Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee Chair, Josh Bonner in support of the military souse license portability policy language in HB 880. License Portability is one of the three areas of concern that impact military spouse employment and economic opportunities. The provisions of HB 880 can help military spouses maintain professional and financial stability by allowing them to use their existing professional licenses and certificates when they relocate due to military orders. The provisions of HB 880 also alleviate some confusion from the new Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) by defining the authorities responsible for implementing the provisions of the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act. The policy minimizes delays in spouses getting to work and starting that second income stream.  View detailed 2024 Priorities
